Unit Standard 119649 - Handle and use of a Handgun

This unit standard is for anyone who privately uses a handgun and or who requires a Competency Certificate in terms of relevant legislation.

Unit Standard 117705 - Knowledge of the Firearms Control Act 60/2000.  

Unit Standard 119650 - Handle and use of a Self-Loading Rifle or Carbine

This unit standard is for anyone who privately uses self-loading rifle or carbine a and or who requires a Competency Certificate in terms of relevant legislation.

Unit Standard 119651 - Handle and use of a Manually Operated Rifle or Carbine

This unit standard is for anyone who privately uses a manually operated rifle or carbine and or who requires a Competency Certificate in terms of relevant legislation.

Unit Standard 119652 - Handle and use of a Shotgun

This unit standard is for anyone who privately uses a shotgun and or who requires a Competency Certificate in terms of relevant legislation.

 

Course entry requirements: 

Unit Standard 117705 - Knowledge of the Firearms Control Act 60/2000.  

Unit Standard 123511 - Handle and use of a Self-Loading Rifle or Carbine for Business Purposes

This course includes dealing with malfunctions and shooting against time limits. 

 

This course teaches a higher level of proficiency than the basic course and is a requirement for persons who use firearms in the course of their business e.g. Security Officers
